Houston Methodist Neurological Institute is the site for one of the five leading ALS Clinical and Research Care Centers in the US under the direction of Stanley H. Appel, MD, Chair of the Department of Neurology, with over 100 ALS patients diagnosed yearly and over 250 active patients managed longitudinally. The department also has one of the largest multidisciplinary myotonic dystrophy clinics and also including those with muscular dystrophy, inherited neuropathy, CIDP/acquired neuropathy, myasthenia gravis, and metabolic/mitochondrial disorders. Two fellowship positions are available for one year of clinical training with specialization in clinical neuromuscular medicine, including electrodiagnostic medicine, neuropathology, clinical/translational experience, and rehabilitation.
