Whether you're preparing for certification exams, enhancing your clinical practice, or expanding your understanding of neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic topics, the AANEM Suggested Reference List serves as a helpful starting point for your educational journey.

This list is a curated collection of resources designed to support professionals in the fields of neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic medicine, and includes key textbooks, articles, and other educational materials that provide foundational knowledge and up-to-date insights into these specialties.

The Suggested Reference List is managed by the Clinical Publications Review Committee. Materials are evaluated every 3 years for relevancy, and removed when the information becomes outdated. While this list reflects recommendations from experienced professionals, it is not exhaustive. Practitioners are encouraged to seek additional resources for a comprehensive understanding of the field. 

Adding Materials to the Suggested Reference List

To request the inclusion of educational materials in the Suggested Reference List, contact communications@aanem.org with a copy of the material for review. If the Clinical Publications Review Committee determines the material is a valuable educational resource for the neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic community, it will be added to the Suggested Reference List. Please note that the committee does not provide a summary or a written review of the material.
