The objective for this one-year fellowship in neuromuscular medicine is to obtain a broad education in the clinical, electrodiagnostic, and pathophysiological aspects of neuromuscular diseases.
At completion of the program, fellows are eligible for examination by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for added qualifications in neuromuscular medicine, as well as the Electrodiagnostic Medicine boards through the American Board of Electrodiagnostic and Neuromuscular Medicine (AANEM).
Emory University serves as a major tertiary referral center for patients with neuromuscular disorders for Atlanta and the Southeast. The faculty provides internationally recognized expertise in peripheral neuropathies, ALS, muscular dystrophies, myasthenia gravis, and myopathies.
Clinical services offered by the faculty include:
- Neuromuscular clinics at The Emory Clinic
- Peripheral Nerve Clinic at The Emory Clinic
- Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinic at The Emory Clinic
- ALS Clinic at The Emory Clinic
- Emory Electrodiagnostic Laboratory (>1400 EMG examinations/year)
- Neuromuscular ultrasound
- Neuromuscular Pathology Laboratory (>350 muscle and >115 nerve specimens/ year)
- Inpatient neuromuscular consults and inpatient electrodiagnostic studies
