Neuromuscular fellowship training program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center offers one position of one-year fellowship training each year. The fellowship is offered to a neurology resident with ABPN Neurology Board-certification or eligibility. The fellow will participate in the care of patients with neuromuscular and autonomic disorders in all varieties, will have hand-on experiences with electrophysiological studies including nerve conduction studies, needle electromyography, single fiber studies, somatosensory evoked potentials, autonomic testing, and quantitative sensory testing. The fellow will also learn how to perform a skin biopsy, and learn how to interpret muscle and nerve biopsies. The fellow will work in our neuromuscular clinics, ALS, and MDA clinics. The fellow will have ample time to work in electrodiagnostic lab to be proficient in electrodiagnostic studies. The fellow will have opportunity to work in inpatient consultations. Didactic lectures are provided in blocks of neuromuscular series lectures once a week. There is an opportunity for a fellow to conduct clinical research with mentors during the fellowship training with provided research time. When the fellow finishes the training, the fellow will be eligible to sit for ABPN-certified Neuromuscular Board or AANEM-certified Electrodiagnostic Medicine Board.
