Guidelines

AANEM guidelines and consensus statements provide evidence based recommendations for the assessment and treatment of muscle and nerve disorders. Adherence to these documents will help ensure relevance, efficiency, cost effectiveness, and diagnostic accuracy in the practice of electrodiagnostic (EDX) medicine and quality patient care.

To develop these guidelines and consensus statements, AANEM works with physicians who specialize in neuromuscular (NM) and EDX medicine. They are developed, in part, to meet the demands of payers, accrediting bodies, and maintenance of certification and licensure programs, helping them determine the appropriate standard of care in NM medicine.
