The Neuromuscular Division at the University of Florida has available positions for a Neuromuscular Fellow for the 2023 academic year. This is a 1- year ACGME-approved fellowship. There is the possibility of doing an optional 2nd year of neuromuscular research in collaboration with other UF Institutes including the UF Center for Neurogenetics, UF Myology Institute, UF McKnight Brain Institute, UF Powell Gene Therapy Center and the UF Rehabilitation Department (see below). The UF Health Shands Medical Center is a referral center for the North Florida and South Georgia region. Our program offers comprehensive training in adult and pediatric neuromuscular diseases, electrodiagnostic studies, autonomic testing, muscle and nerve biopsy reading, and botulinum toxin injections. Our division has ongoing trials in many neuromuscular conditions including ALS, myotonic dystrophy, CMT, FSHD, Friedreich Ataxia, and Pompe’s disease. Interested applicants can also do an optional 2nd year of fellowship dedicated to research in collaboration with the many scientists at the University of Florida including the UF Powell Gene Therapy Center (Dr. Barry Byrne), UF Myology Institute (Dr. Lee Sweeney) and UF Center for Neurogenetics (Dr. Laura Ranum).
