Jeremy D.P. Bland, MB ChB, FRCP, Receives 2021 Distinguished Researcher Award

The Distinguished Researcher Award is characterized by a member who has made continuous significant contributions to clinical neurophysiological, NM, or MSK research. This year, this honor is awarded to Jeremy D.P. Bland, MB ChB, FRCP, a consultant in neurophysiology at East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust in Canterbury, United Kingdom. In addition, he is an honorary lecturer at King’s College in London.

Ileana Howard, MD is the 2021 recipient of AANEM's Advocacy Award for her outstanding work in supporting veterans,along with her efforts dedicated to providing the highest level of specialty care using telehealth.  

2020 Omnibus Bill Averts Expected Medicare Cuts for Neurology and PM&R

The final COVID-19 relief legislation of 2020 was passed by Congress late on December 21. Included in this massive 5,593 page omnibus bill are several provisions expected to have substantial, positive impacts for physicians, including significantly softening what was expected to be a large reduction to the Medicare conversion factor in 2021.

AANEM representatives attended the AMA's House of Delegates Interim Meeting, which was held virtually in mid-November. The meeting covered a wide range of important, timely topics affecting health care in the United States.

AANEM State Liaisons: One of the Last Groups on Capitol Hill

AANEM returned to Washington, DC for its 7th Annual Day on Capitol Hill on March 9, 2020. The AANEM State Liaisons were one of the last groups able to visit with congressional offices prior to the shutdown in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
