The neuromuscular medicine program is a full-time, one year assignment divided in electrodiagnostic studies and a clinical component. Our program serves a large patient population in all regions of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. It offers a broad variety of neuromuscular conditions in a unique setting for the fellow to become an expert in neuromuscular medicine.
The fellow will assist three neuromuscular clinics, including the ALS/MDA clinic. The fellow will learn about neuropathology, neuromuscular rehabilitation, chemodenervation and will be encouraged to participate in one or more research projects. Electrodiagnostic studies on adults and children with a wide range of neuromuscular diseases will be performed throughout the year.
Upon conclusion of the fellowship, the neuromuscular fellow will be able to practice independently as a neuromuscular expert and will have the requirements to take the ABPN neuromuscular medicine board.
