Volunteer Opportunities

Make an Impact With AANEM

Hundreds of NM and EDX experts volunteer their time and expertise to serve on a variety of AANEM committees and task forces each year. These volunteers make it possible for AANEM to achieve its mission to improve the quality of patient care and advance the science of NM diseases and EDX medicine.

Get involved this year to build meaningful connections with other members, immerse yourself in the latest science, and make an impact in the NM and EDX community.

Explore the committee brochure to learn more, and volunteer to join a group that fits your interests and experience.

GME Committee

This committee monitors trends in fellowship training programs in electromyography, clinical neurophysiology, and NM diseases and make suggestions for how the AANEM could assist program directors in achieving their goals and develops resources that will assist neurophysiology and NM disease fellowship directors to design programs that will comply with the core competencies. The committee will assist Program Directors in finding a reliable evaluation tool for the core competencies, establish collaboration and communication with the other neurological and NM specialty related organizations or entities (i.e. AAN, ACGME, Neurology RRC, AAP, etc.) regarding educational issues pertaining to fellowship training and graduate medical education, continue communicating with existing fellowship training programs in EMG, clinical neurophysiology, and neuromuscular disease and devise strategies for strengthening the bond between the AANEM and these training programs. Meets yearly at the AANEM Annual Meeting.

Additional commitment outside of this meeting is approximately 12 hours per year.

You will get opportunities to actively participate regardless of your institutional affiliation, academic rank, or career stage. When you join, do not hesitate to come forward with new ideas, or volunteer yourself for committee roles. You will be heard. You will be given an opportunity to thrive and give back.”

Elie Naddaf, MD

In an ever-changing world of medical practice–and especially when there are so many and so varied assaults on the quality of EDX medicine–I have found it rewarding to be a part of efforts and programs to meet these challenges. Being on committees and being involved in the AANEM helps me feel I am helping and a part of the solution.
