Volunteer Opportunities

Make an Impact With AANEM

Hundreds of NM and EDX experts volunteer their time and expertise to serve on a variety of AANEM committees and task forces each year. These volunteers make it possible for AANEM to achieve its mission to improve the quality of patient care and advance the science of NM diseases and EDX medicine.

Get involved this year to build meaningful connections with other members, immerse yourself in the latest science, and make an impact in the NM and EDX community.

Explore the committee brochure to learn more, and volunteer to join a group that fits your interests and experience.

ABEM Examination Committee

As a member of the ABEM Examination Committee, you will play a vital role in the development of the annual certification examination. Responsibilities include drafting new questions and reviewing existing items to ensure the exam remains fair, rigorous, and reflective of current clinical practice. Your contributions directly support physicians in demonstrating professional competence and help maintain the value of ABEM certification within the AANEM community.

Commitment:

Attendance at two mandatory in-person meetings each year:

Spring Meeting (typically held in April in conjunction with the AANEM Board of Directors meeting)

Fall Meeting (held during the AANEM Annual Meeting, typically in October or November)

Additional time commitment: 3–10 hours per year outside of the in-person meetings for exam item review and related tasks.

Elie Naddaf, MD

In an ever-changing world of medical practice–and especially when there are so many and so varied assaults on the quality of EDX medicine–I have found it rewarding to be a part of efforts and programs to meet these challenges. Being on committees and being involved in the AANEM helps me feel I am helping and a part of the solution.
