Mary Reilly, MD, Receives 2025 AANEM Honorary Member Award

AANEM is proud to present the 2025 Honorary Member Award to Mary Reilly, MD, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to NM and EDX medicine and her global leadership in peripheral nerve research and clinical care.

Dr. Reilly graduated from the University College Dublin in 1986. She earned her Doctor of Medicine in 1996 and was awarded Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in 2002 and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (FRCPI) in 2003. In 1998, she was appointed as a consultant neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London. She became a professor of clinical neurology at University College London (UCL) in 2010.

Currently, Dr. Reilly leads the peripheral nerve clinical and research group and serves as head of the division of clinical neurology at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology. Her research program focuses on inherited neuropathies, with work spanning gene identification, pathogenetic mechanisms, longitudinal studies, development of outcome measures, and clinical trials. Her dedication has significantly advanced our understanding and treatment of peripheral nerve disorders.

Dr. Reilly has held numerous leadership roles, including serving as president of the Association of British Neurologists, the British Peripheral Nerve Society, and the International Peripheral Nerve Society. She was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2020 and a Fellow of the European Academy of Neurology in 2023.
