Volunteer Opportunities

Make an Impact With AANEM

Hundreds of NM and EDX experts volunteer their time and expertise to serve on a variety of AANEM committees and task forces each year. These volunteers make it possible for AANEM to achieve its mission to improve the quality of patient care and advance the science of NM diseases and EDX medicine.

Get involved this year to build meaningful connections with other members, immerse yourself in the latest science, and make an impact in the NM and EDX community.

Explore the committee brochure to learn more, and volunteer to join a group that fits your interests and experience.

Advanced Practice Provider Education Committee

The goals of the Advanced Practice Providers (APP) Education Committee are: 1. To develop APP-specific training tools and programs that will enhance APP NM and provide better team care to patients. 2. To advise the AANEM membership team on how to encourage attendance at the AANEM meeting, utilization of AANEM education offerings, and becoming an AANEM member. Vision: Create basic modules on the care of certain patient populations after a diagnosis is made. These include areas where APPs have been invaluable, like ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), peripheral neuropathy, and myasthenia graves. Ultimately, these would form a "common core" for NM APPs that people could use for basic orientation and education of new hires or to shine up skills in existing staff. Some sessions will be offered at the live meeting and others online.

Meets yearly at spring meeting or AANEM Annual Meeting. Additional commitment is approximately 10 hours per year.

You will get opportunities to actively participate regardless of your institutional affiliation, academic rank, or career stage. When you join, do not hesitate to come forward with new ideas, or volunteer yourself for committee roles. You will be heard. You will be given an opportunity to thrive and give back.”

Elie Naddaf, MD

In an ever-changing world of medical practice–and especially when there are so many and so varied assaults on the quality of EDX medicine–I have found it rewarding to be a part of efforts and programs to meet these challenges. Being on committees and being involved in the AANEM helps me feel I am helping and a part of the solution.
