Speaker program for residents and fellows

Ratna Bhavaraju-Sanka2/16/26 10:00 PM (CST)
Colleagues,
The American Autonomic Society sponsors an expert speaker program for residents or other trainees on topics in autonomic medicine.

Autonomic disorders often go unrecognized and under-diagnosed and many clinicians struggle with the treatments of these often-complex diseases.  Most training programs do not have dedicated autonomic disorders specialists at their centers.

There is a Google form to fill out if you'd like a lecture to be arranged.  These lectures are typically done virtually. Arrangements can be made for in-person speakers, if that is preferred (the program has no funding for speaker travel).

Our lecturers span a variety of backgrounds, and lectures can be tailored to a program's needs and interests.  We have found that most programs benefit from an introductory lecture covering autonomic physiology relevant to clinical practice, the autonomic medical history, and the diagnosis and initial management of common autonomic disorders.  Many programs opt for a follow up lecture going into more depth on specific topics, to include alpha-synucleinopathies, autonomic neuropathies, pediatric and genetic autonomic conditions, POTS, syncope, gastrointestinal autonomic disorders, etc.

Sincerely,

I enjoy participating in the AANEM Connect Forum for a number of reasons. There are very fundamental questions posed on a frequent basis that cause me to pause and ask myself, ‘Why didn’t I think of that?’ Also, I continue to learn new things when others contribute their thoughts and experiences. Connect is an excellent opportunity for members to interact and to address any topic, including those that may not be discussed at an annual meeting or journal article.
