The neuromuscular medicine program is a full-time, one year assignment divided in electrodiagnostic studies and a clinical component. Our program serves a large patient population in all regions of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. It offers a broad variety of neuromuscular conditions in a unique setting for the fellow to become an expert in neuromuscular medicine.
The fellow will assist three neuromuscular clinics, including the ALS/MDA clinic. The fellow will learn about neuropathology, neuromuscular rehabilitation, chemodenervation and will be encouraged to participate in one or more research projects. Electrodiagnostic studies on adults and children with a wide range of neuromuscular diseases will be performed throughout the year. The fellow needs to be fluent in Spanish as the vast majority of our patient population speak Spanish only.

Upon conclusion of the fellowship, the neuromuscular fellow will be able to practice independently as a neuromuscular expert and will have the requirements to take the ABPN neuromuscular medicine board.
