The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center neuromuscular fellowship is a one-year clinical program that provides training across all aspects of neuromuscular disease (adult and pediatric) at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Become proficient in the full spectrum of neuromuscular care across our wide range of multidisciplinary (see below) and general neuromuscular clinics specializing in patient care and clinical research. Master both common and specialty techniques in electrophysiologic diagnostic techniques, from NCS/EMG to ultrasound. Delve into the intricacies of neuromuscular medicine with multiple weekly educational sessions, from journal club to pathology reading sessions. Work with our team of expert faculty and with like-minded fellows (pediatric neuromuscular and clinical electrophysiology) to collaborate and become the best neuromuscular physician you can be. In addition to general neuromuscular clinics, our multidisciplinary clinics at OSU include:
Amyloidosis
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/motor neuron diseases
Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy
Hereditary myopathy/neuropathy (MDA clinic, adult and pediatric)
Immune neuropathy
Immune myopathy
Myasthenia gravis/neuromuscular junction disorders
Spinal muscular atrophy

Experience the breadth of electrophysiologic diagnosis:
>3500 outpatient and 250 inpatient NCS/EMGs annually
Training in specialty techniques: autonomic testing, neuromuscular ultrasound, single fiber EMG

Mission Statement:
The mission of the neuromuscular medicine fellowship-training program is to train mature, energetic physicians in the science and art of neuromuscular medicine and to produce physicians committed to the highest level of patient care and research.

Program Aims:
The goals of the fellowship are to develop competence in various aspects of neuromuscular medicine, achieved through a mixture of high quality clinical exposure to the full spectrum of neuromuscular conditions in a wide variety of patient populations balanced with a broad range of didactic sessions provided by the faculty both from the Department of Neurology and also from related disciplines. In addition, the fellows learn from interactions with other fellows, residents and medical students and are expected to take an active role in teaching. Evaluations of the fellows will be based on the six competencies: patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and systems-based practice.
