The ACGME-accredited Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship at the University of Kentucky is a one-year program directed by Zabeen K. Mahuwala, MD, FAAN. The fellowship provides comprehensive, hands-on training in the diagnosis and management of disorders affecting the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems. Training combines clinical evaluation with advanced electrophysiologic testing, including EEG, EMG, and nerve conduction studies.
Additional opportunities include neuromuscular ultrasound, single-fiber EMG, polysomnography, intraoperative monitoring, and botulinum toxin procedures for dystonia and spasticity. Fellows may tailor their experience by selecting an EEG track, an EMG track, or a combined track. Regardless of the chosen track, all fellows gain broad exposure to patients across subspecialty areas under the guidance of faculty with dual expertise.
For those interested in extended subspecialty training, an optional second year in Epilepsy is also available.
