Wiley Transitions Muscle & Nerve to Fully Digital, Affects AANEM Membership Dues Rates

Wiley, publisher of Muscle & Nerve, has decided to transition the journal to a fully digital publication beginning in 2027. As a result, a printed edition will no longer be available. 

Because AANEM's current membership dues structure includes multiple rates based on whether members receive Muscle & Nerve and whether they receive it digitally or in print, Wiley's decision requires AANEM to restructure its membership rates for 2027.

Beginning in 2027, AANEM will move to a simplified dues structure with one rate for each membership category, and all members will have digital access to Muscle & Nerve. As part of this restructuring AANEM is also making its first dues adjustment in many years. 

We recognize that the impact of this change will vary depending on a member's current dues and journal selection. For many members, the change in dues will be relatively small. However, members who currently select a lower-cost, no-journal option — particularly some international members — would experience a more significant increase under the new structure. AANEM will provide transition discounts to affected current members to help ease that change. In the meantime, you can view the new 2027 membership dues structure here. 

As AANEM established the new rates, the AANEM Board also considered that dues have not increased in many years while AANEM has continued to expand and improve member benefits, including:

• AANEM Connect – a significant member networking and engagement benefit where you can get answers to complex medical questions from peers across the field.
• An improved learning management system – making it easier than ever to access education and learning resources.
• Additional educational resources – including more monographs and other member-exclusive materials.
• An enhanced website and upcoming AI-powered search – helping you find AANEM's clinical, educational, and professional resources more quickly and easily.
  
• Advocacy and professional standards – protecting the practice of neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic medicine through advocacy, expanding clinical guidance and position statements, and continuing to advance quality standards through ABEM certification and AANEM laboratory accreditation.
