Applications are now open for the AANEM Young Leadership Council!
This group offers an excellent opportunity for medical students, residents, and fellows to get involved in a professional association; gain valuable leadership experience; connect with leaders in NM, MSK, US, and EDX medicine; and make a meaningful
impact.
Responsibilities
Council members play a crucial role in shaping the future direction of AANEM by providing valuable insights and opinions on important topics, particularly those relevant to medical students, residents, and fellows. Their input helps address the needs of young physicians and influence the strategies and initiatives undertaken by the organization.
Benefits
Members of the Young Leadership Council receive all of the benefits of being a Young Ambassador, as well as mentorship from AANEM board members and other leading physicians. Council members also receive a 50% discount on select AANEM education products, a $1,000 travel stipend for the in-person AANEM Annual Meeting, and free participation in a future Emerging Leaders Forum.
Additional Leadership Opportunity
Two members of the Young Leadership Council will be selected as Leadership Liaisons. These individuals will co-chair the council and have the opportunity to participate in AANEM Board of Director meetings. Leadership Liaisons will receive waived in-person meeting registration, airfare, and 5-6 nights hotel accommodations for the annual meeting.

- Personal statement of interest in joining the council
- Copy of your curriculum vitae
- Letter(s) of recommendation from your Training Program Director or other AANEM member
- Indicate if you’d also like to be considered for one of the two leadership liaison positions
