Young Leadership Council

Members of the Young Leadership Council receive all of the benefits of being a Young Ambassador, as well as mentorship from AANEM board members and other leading physicians. Young Leadership Council members also receive a 50% discount on select AANEM education products, a $1,000 travel stipend for the in-person AANEM Annual Meeting, and free participation in a future Emerging Leaders Forum.

Medical students, residents, and fellows are eligible to apply for AANEM Young Leadership Council membership. Council members serve a 2-year term and are selected through an application process. Applications will be accepted again in March, 2024.

During the application process you will be asked to upload the following items:

  • Personal statement of interest in joining the council
  • Copy of your curriculum vitae
  • Letter(s) of recommendation from your Training Program Director or other AANEM member

Additionally, two members of the Young Leadership Council will be selected as Leadership Liaisons. They will co-chair the council and participate in AANEM board of director meetings. Leadership Liaisons receive waived in-person meeting registration, airfare, and 5-6 nights hotel accommodations to attend the annual meeting. Leadership Liaisons serve a 1-year term and are selected annually from members of the Young Leadership Council. During the application process, you can indicate your interest in being considered for one of the Leadership Liaison positions as well.
