Membership Information & Dues
AANEM membership is open to all healthcare professionals dedicated to helping patients with NM diseases. AANEM Membership dues range from $50 to $299 annually depending on what benefits you would like to receive, your country of residence, and your professional designations.
AANEM membership runs on a 12-month calendar basis from January 1 – December 31. All members who renew online by January 31 receive $25 off their annual dues.

Physicians Practicing in North America

Physicians in Training
Starting at $50
Residents and fellows are the future of NM and EDX medicine, and AANEM offers individual membership at a deeply discounted price. Residents and fellows are welcome to apply for individual membership, or encouraged to ask their department to participate in the Training Program Partnership so they can receive free membership.
Medical Students
Free
Getting the education and information needed to succeed has never been easier - or affordable – for medical students. Membership for medical students is free, and includes complimentary registration for the AANEM Annual Meetings and opportunities to present research, exclusive access to hundreds of free or deeply discounted education products, and career support every step of the way.

Technologists
Starting at $50
Technologist members shall be non physicians who are contributing to the clinical practice of EDX and/or NM medicine and who do not and will not perform or interpret needle EMG studies or interpret NCSs. Technologists performing NCSs must be under the direction of a neurologist or PM&R physician. Technologist members must receive a letter of support from a Fellow or Active member of the AANEM or a statement of responsibility from their supervising physician and must agree to meet other eligibility requirements established by the Board. Advanced Practice Providers

Other Non-Physicians

Collaborator Membership
Collaborator members shall be non physician providers who agree they will not perform or interpret needle EMG studies or interpret NCSs, including but not limited to business or program administrators, non physicians who provide care to patients that works in collaboration with a neurologist or physiatrist to treat patients with NM diseases, or pharmacists that are interested in NM or EDX medicine. Collaborator members must receive a letter of support from a Fellow member of the AANEM or a statement of responsibility from their supervising physician and meet other eligibility requirements established by the Board.
Research Membership
Researcher members shall be non physicians who are PhD investigators, engineers, holders of a master’s degree, or graduate students enrolled in a PhD degree program who are currently active in NM or EDX research. Research members must receive a letter of support from a Fellow member of the AANEM or a statement of responsibility from a physician familiar with their work and meet other eligibility requirements established by the Board.
Retired Members
Free
Apply for Emeritus membership if you've been an AANEM member for 5 years and are fully retired, disabled, or are working less than 20 hours per week. Emeritus membership is free and includes all membership discounts and access to free educational products. Muscle & Nerve can be received for an additional fee.
Code of Conduct
By paying AANEM dues, you certify that you have:
- Read AANEM’s Guidelines for Ethical Behavior Relating to Clinical Practice Issues in NM and EDX Medicine;
- Agree to abide by AANEM’s position statement Who is Qualified to Practice Electrodiagnostic Medicine? stating that the results of the initial NCSs are reviewed by the physician as they are obtained (on-site) and only properly trained physicians perform and interpret needle EMG and interpret NCSs; and
- Follow the American Medical Association’s Principles of Medical Ethics and will uphold these guidelines as an AANEM member.
You further certify that no determination by a private body or government entity exists declaring that you have violated provisions regulating medical ethics. Your payment confirms that if your conduct conflicts with the standards and principles of the AANEM, your application may be rejected or you may be subject to appropriate disciplinary action including but not limited to censorship, suspension, or expulsion from AANEM.
