UPDATE: “Job Descriptions for NCS Technologists”

7/14/2015

The AANEM Professional Practice Committee, in coordination with members of the AANEM Technologist Education Committee, recently revised AANEM’s prior position statement, “Job Descriptions for Electrodiagnostic Technologists.”  The new version of the position statement, “Job Descriptions for NCS Technologists,” goes into much greater detail and adds many more levels of classification for technologists working in electrodiagnostic (EDX) laboratories.

The revised document is intended for use by EDX physicians, medical directors of EDX laboratories, and EDX laboratory employers.  Each job title contains a brief summary of the position, what differentiates each level, the minimum qualifications required for each position, goals for that level, examples of specific duties, and requisite core competencies.

The update was formally approved by the AANEM Board of Directors at the end of June 2015. To view the document in its entirety, please visit the AANEM website here.
