On Friday, April 1, 2016 the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the beginning of the review and dispute period for the Open Payments data publication. This review period lasts for 45 days.
The Affordable Care Act requires that CMS collect information from applicable manufacturers and group purchasing organizations (GPOs) to report information about their financial relationships with physicians and hospitals. Open Payments is the federally run program that collects the information. Review and dispute of this information is voluntary, but strongly encouraged. CMS will publish the 2015 payment data and updates to the 2013 and 2014 data on June 30, 2016.
