MOCP Exam Notice

5/22/2013

MOCP Exam NoticeThe next ABEM Maintenance of Certification Program (MOCP) exam is scheduled for October 19, 2013. It is administered during the AANEM Annual Meeting at the JW Marriott Hill Country in San Antonio, TX.

ABEM Diplomates with time-limited certificates are required to participate in the MOCP in order to maintain their certifications beyond the initial 10-year period. The MOCP exam consists of approximately 125 multiple-choice questions designed to assess a Diplomate’s cognitive knowledge and clinical judgment in EDX medicine.

Diplomates may apply for the MOCP exam at any time after earning their certification, but must pass the exam prior to expiration of their current certificate  to avoid a lapse in certification. They are also able to sit up to one year in advance without altering their certification cycle.

Diplomates certified in 2003 should apply for the 2013 MOCP exam, as their certificates will expire on December 31, 2013.

The application for the 2013 MOCP exam will be posted at www.abemexam.org in June. The application deadline is September 30, 2013.
