CMS Extends Reporting Deadlines for EHR and PQRS Programs

On February 25, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced an extension for EHR Attestation and certain aspects of the PQRS program reporting deadlines. 
  
Eligible professionals now have until 11:59 p.m. (ET) on March 20, 2015, to attest to meaningful use for the Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program 2014 reporting year. By successfully attesting to meaningful use for the 2014 program year, providers will receive an incentive payment and avoid the Medicare payment adjustment which will be applied January 1, 2016.

Eligible Professionals participating in PQRS via Electronic Health Record (EHR) Direct or Data Submission Vendor that is certified EHR technology (CEHRT) OR Qualified Clinical Data Registries (QCDRs) (using QRDA III format) now have until March 20, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. (ET) to submit information for the PQRS program. All other submission timeframes for other PQRS reporting methods remain the same.
