AANEM Foundation Partners with MDA to Fund Research

6/2/2015

Research is the key to finding the cause of neuromuscular disease and identifying effective treatments. Through AANEM's new partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), the AANEM Foundation has the ability to identify research projects that fit within the AANEM Foundation's mission.  The MDA's Research Grant programs support the world's leading neuromuscular researchers. Linking the AANEM Foundation to this source of funding applications will provide the Foundation access to funding opportunities it has not had in the past.

"We are very excited to work with the AANEM Foundation. There are many important research projects in need of funding, and this collaboration will allow us to expand opportunities to better understand the causes of neuromuscular diseases and eventually uncover cures," noted Valerie A. Cwik, MD, MDA executive vice president and chief medical and scientific officer. Shirlyn Adkins, JD AANEM Foundation executive director agreed stating,   "Co-funding research with the MDA allows both groups to leverage the money received from donors and from the organization. It increases the AANEM Foundation's ability to advance our key research objectives."
