As of 2022, Neuromuscular programs have moved to a centralized application process and timeline (both being managed by the AANEM). Epilepsy programs (through an effort being led by AES) are launching a Epilepsy/CNP match process through the NRMP for the class of trainees starting in July 2024.
Because of the complex makeup of Clinical Neurophysiology - with techniques, clinical skills and procedures, practitioners and applicant pools that cross/overlap with multiple other subspecialties (Epilepsy, Neuromuscular, Sleep, Autonomic, Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring) - this issue is especially complex, with some CNP programs participating in the AANEM portal for Neuromuscular Programs and other CNP programs participating in the Epilepsy/CNP match. Some CNP programs are likely recruiting fellows independently of either process.
The American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) will convene a townhall meeting of Clinical Neurophysiology, Epilepsy, and Neuromuscular fellowship Program Directors on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, 7:00 – 8:00pm ET (6:00 – 7:00pm CT; 4:00 – 5:00pm PT). Join meeting here.
The goal of this meeting is to convey information to and answer questions from programs related to options for fellowship recruitment for the 2024-25 fellowship year, including the Epilepsy Match (led by AES), the Neuromuscular Portal (administered by AANEM) and ACNS’s Fellowship Finder resource.
