Physicians from Hawaii to Delaware attended the annual state liaison training event on April 13 in Chicago as a part of the AANEM’s state liaison program. The program is a network of AANEM members that actively communicate concerns to payers and state agencies regarding quality electrodiagnostic medicine. The liaisons shared stories from the past year and heard updates from staff on a number of current issues. Speakers for the event included a consultant in medical policy development at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee and a health care compliance attorney.
“This training session not only allows our members to share information on their activities, it also provides an opportunity to learn from each other on how to best approach key decision makers in individual states,” said AANEM Government Relations Director Kathleen Micheletti.
Currently the AANEM has state liaisons in more than 30 states, and it continues to encourage members who have a passion for advocacy to become involved. “Our members are the best advocates to make sure our message of quality patient care and excellence in electrodiagnostic medicine is delivered,” said Micheletti.
