ALS Patients Find Hope in New Study Authored by AANEM Members

There is some hope on the horizon for patients diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.  More than a dozen members of the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) were authors on a study announcing the results showing promise in the fight against ALS that appeared in AANEM’s journal Muscle & Nerve.

More than 1,660 People Attend the AANEM 2020 Virtual Annual Meeting

A record-breaking 1,666 people attended the 67th American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) Annual Meeting, which took place from October 7-10, 2020. For the first time, the AANEM Annual Meeting was held virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The AANEM 2020 Bylaws Revision passed with a vote of 711 to 8.

Dr. Alexander Chamessian Receives ANF Development Grant

Alexander Chamessian, MD, PhD, has been selected as a recipient of an American Neuromuscular Foundation (ANF) Development Grant. The ANF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, and electrodiagnostic research and medicine. When you donate to the ANF, 100% of your gift is exclusively used to fund researchers like Dr. Chamessian, or their education. This is made possible by the AANEM, which covers all of the ANF’s administrative costs.

Dr. R. James Cotton Receives Clinical Research Fellowship From the American Neuromuscular Foundation

R. James Cotton, MD, PhD, has been selected as the recipient of the American Neuromuscular Foundation’s (ANF) Clinical Research Fellowship to provide insights and answers about the safety and effectiveness of the neurological application of neurotoxins.

AANEM Creating Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship Application and Offer System

AANEM is excited to announce that it will be launching a Neuromuscular (NM) Medicine Fellowship Portal to make it easy for physicians interested in a NM fellowship to apply and for Training Program Directors to make offers for NM fellowships.
