The Clinical Neurophysiology program at the Medical Center provides ACGME approved fellowship training. We hire two or three fellows each year for first year training. Opportunities exist for an additional year of specialized training. The first year covers both EEG and EMG/NCS with elective rotations available in sleep medicine and clinical or basic science research. The laboratory performs approximately 4,000 procedures per year. These include routine adult and pediatric EEG, EMG, video-EEG monitoring, multi-modality evoked potentials, intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, autonomic nervous system testing, WADA test, electrocorticography, and muscle biopsies. Clinical experience in related fields is provided in our weekly epilepsy and MDA clinics. Our teaching faculty are full-time physicians boarded in their respective areas. The program offers extensive exposure and experience in various neurophysiological procedures. Fellow/faculty ratio is 1:1 and this provides our fellows excellent learning opportunities. Physicians who have successfully completed accredited residency training in adult or child neurology, psychiatry, or rehabilitation medicine in the USA or Canada will be considered for the fellowship program. Letters of inquiry and requests for formal applications along with 2 letters of recommendation (one from the department chairman and the other from the residency director) should be sent to the Medical Director, Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship, Department of Neurology, University of Mississippi Medical Center, 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS, 39216. Applications are generally reviewed in early January and short listed candidates are invited for interview. For further information about the fellowship program, contact the program coordinator at (601) 984-4763. |
