Dear Jerry:
I have been wondering how you have been coming along with the program
for the next American Assocation of Electromyography and Electrodiagnosis
meeting. It is my understanding that the meeting will be held on Sunday,
September 5th at the Hotel Statler. I would like to suggest that we have
a morning scientific session from nine or ten to twelve and then an afternoon
scientific session from say two to four. Following this, we should have
our business meeting and allow plenty of time for it because there will
be quite a few matters to take up including election of new officers and
new members. I would then be in favor of a social hour from approximately
six-thirty to seven-thirty followed by a dinner. If enough people will
come for the dinner, I should like to welcome the new members and introduce
the new president at this time. In addition, I should like to give a short
presidental address on a subject I will tell you about later. I would
appreciate hearing from you right away, Jerry, as to what you think of
this outline and also how the scientific program is shaping up. I do hope
you will find time to present some of your splendid work for us.
Very sincerely yours,
James G. Golseth, MD

Dear Jim,
It is a bit too early to say how long a scientific session we will be
able to present. Thus far few have responded to letters I have sent out,
but two will give twenty minute presentations. I am confident that a session
of at least two hours is already feasible, and I will keep you posted
concerning any progress along these lines. I am in complete favor with
the remainder of the program you suggest, including social hour, dinner,
etc.
As soon as a good approximation of the number of scientific speakers can
be made I will let you know.
Sincerely,
Jerome W. Gersten, MD

Dear Jim:
The program which I have enclosed is, I think, a rather full one. As you
will note, the date and room have been omitted. The participants expect
it to be held on either September 4 or 5. Please do not hesitate to make
any changes in the time of the start of the session that you think may
be desirable.
After the date and site have been filled in, I would recommend that the
program be sent to Dr. Rodriquez for printing and mailing, since he would
have the funds available, and probably a better mailing list than I would
have.
I will be out of town from June 11 to approximately June 28, in case you
want to contact me with regard to the program. I look forward to seeing
you in Washington.
Sincerely yours,
Jerome Gersten, MD

Dear Jerry:
Thanks for your letters and the program for the American Association of
Electromyography and Electrodiagnosis. I personally think the Program
Committee has done a splendid job on getting this fine program together
and want to congratulate you on it.
I have sent it on to Rod in Chicago with the recommendation that we allow
time for registration in the morning and also a business meeting starting
at 4:30 in the afternoon. In addition, I suggested that we do have a social
hour starting at 6:30 followed by a dinner for those who want to attend.
I also put in the date of Sunday, September 5th in case you want to contact
any of those giving the papers.
In closing let me again congratulate you and your committee on the splendid
job you have done and I am looking forward to seeing you in Washington.
Very sincerely yours,

Dear Jim:
I was interested in your progam for your new society, and I wish your
new society the best of luck. Somehow I hope that it may meet in the future
at the same place as the EEG society, as there are many things that the
two groups will have in common. I will keep the date in mind, and if I
can on that Sunday will be there. I don't know why you picked the Sunday
before Labor Day for your meeting!!
Sincerely,

Dear Bob:
Enclosed is the program for the American Assocation of Electromyography
and Electrodiagnosis. It occurs to me that if you have nothing better
to do on this particular Sunday, you might enjoy coming down to Washington
and taking part in the discussion of some of these papers.
I read with great interest the program for the American Electroencephalographic
Society and am particularly interested in what was decided conerning the
medical legal aspects of electroencephalography. I suppose these discussions
will be published in the EEG journal in due time, however, if you have
any comments I would appreciate hearing about it.
Very sincerely yours,

Dear Dr. Nulsen:
Rather recently Dr. Larry Weinberger from Akron, Ohio was out here and
was telling me about your continued interest in electrodiagnosis. Because
of this, I am enclosing a copy of the program for the American Association
of Electromyography and Electrodiagnosis which I believe will interest
you. In addition, I am enclosing a list of the officers, council, and
standing committees. It occurs to me however that you might be interested
in becoming a member of this gorup and if you are, please let me know
and I will be glad to sponsor you for membership. In any event, we would
welcome your presence at this meeting to take part in the discussion of
some of these papers if you can find it at all convenient to be there.
In closing, let me say that I would appreciate receiving your reprints
on electrodiagnosis.
Very sincerely yours,
James G. Golseth, MD

Dear Dr. Golseth,
I
now find that I will be able to get away to attend the scientific session
of the American Association of Electromyography and Electrodiagnosis on
Sunday, September 5, at the Hotel Statler in Washington.
I am looking forward to the interesting program, and would like very much
to bring Dr. Clark Randt, our full-time neurologist here at the Medical
School and University Hospitals, since he and I are interested in setting
up an EMG department at the hospital. Would you consider inviting Dr.
Randt to your meeting and let me know if I may ask him to accompany me?
Sincerely yours,
