Airport Shuttles
Shuttle service is available at the transportation plazas across from the San
Diego Airport Terminals 1 and 2, and curbside at the Commuter Terminal. Several
shuttle companies with vans and buses are also available for hire from the airport.
Customer Service Representatives in blue shirts are on-site at each terminal
for assistance.
Estimated shuttle fare to/from hotel: $8 (one way)
Taxis
Many companies provide taxi service at the San Diego International Airport.
Taxis are available outside each terminal’s baggage claim area. Signage
leads visitors from the gate to the transportation plaza, where a transportation
coordinator places visitors with the first available taxi unless you specify
a particular company.
Estimated taxi fare to/from hotel: $10-13 (one way)
Car Rental
San Diego’s airport is served by all major car rental agencies. Car rental
reservation boards are located near the baggage claim areas of Terminals 1 and
2. Visitors can request shuttle transport to the car rental company of their
choice by using convenient courtesy phones. More information on car rental from

Train Service
Amtrak
The Santa Fe Depot (Amtrak) is located in downtown San Diego, within walking
distance to the San Diego Embarcadero and the heart of downtown. Rail service
on the North Country Coaster line connects San Diego to Los Angeles, Santa Barbara,
and San Luis Obispo.

Transportation While in San Diego
Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) Trolley
You can’t miss the bright red trolly light-rail cars that criss cross
San Diego’s downtown area and beyond. The trolley has three color-coded
routes that cover the eastern part of San Diego County, Mission Valley, Old
Town, downtown San Diego, and south to the Mexican border. Trolley fares are
based on trip distance and are posted on the ticket machines at each station.
Day passes can also be purchased for unlimited trips on MTS Trolleys and buses.

North County Coaster
This sleek and modern train system runs along the coast with terminals in downtown
San Diego and the city of Oceanside to the north.

Coronado
Ferry
This passenger ferry runs regularly across the San Diego Bay between Broadway
Pier in downtown San Diego and the Ferry Landing in Coronado. The ferry departs
the Broadway Pier daily for Coronado beginning at 9 am and continues every hour
on the hour until 9 pm. Departures from Coronado to downtown San Diego begin
at 9 am and continue every hour on the half-hour until 9 pm.

Water Taxi
The San Diego Water Taxi offers on-call transportation service along the San
Diego Bay everyday, 3-10 pm throughout the year. The taxi serves downtown San
Diego, Harbor Island, Shelter Island, and Coronado.
