Description:   

The EMG/Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship is designed to meet the guidelines for specialty certification by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine and for certification in clinical neurophysiology under the American Board of Medical Specialties. This fellowship is available July 1. Candidates should have completed a neurology residency. Responsibilities will focus upon EMG and neuromuscular clinics, and also include neuromuscular pathology. Training may include autonomic testing. Participation in a research project is suggested. An EEG/epilepsy rotation is also required for clinical neurophysiology accreditation.

Description:

This fellowship is an ACGME accredited program with emphasis on electrodiagnostic (EMG) training. Fellows receive broad exposure to pathological and clinical aspects of neuromuscular medicine. Candidates must be eligible to the ABPN neurology board certification exam, and must be eligible to the Pennsylvania state medical license. A second year of fellowship training is available.

At the completion of the first year of training, fellows will be eligible to take the ABEM and ABPN board certification examinations. Part-time training in sleep and EEG may be available for candidates interested in other aspects of clinical neurophysiology, although it is optional.

Description:   

The program is designed to prepare trainees for a career in academic neurology. Fellows are exposed to a broad range of adults and children with neuromuscular diseases. Electrodiagnosis is emphasized, along with clinical skills, and muscle and nerve pathology. First-year fellows are expected to spend at least 1 day each week in basic or clinical research activities. Second-year fellows devote the major portion of their efforts to research. A letter of inquiry and curriculum vitae should be submitted by September 1 of the year before the starting date. Applicants should provide three professional letters of reference and be prepared to travel to Philadelphia to meet members of the Penn Neuromuscular Group.

Description:

The fellowship training at Temple University will provide extensive exposure to clinical electrodiagnostic medicine, including NCS, EMG, evoked potentials, and neuromuscular pathology. Additional training is available in single fiber EMG, EEG, motor neuron unit estimation, autonomic testing, and intraoperative monitoring. This fellowship is designed to meet the requirements for certification by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine and certification in clinical neurophysiology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Exposure to EEG interpretation and proficiency in managing epilepsy patients is required for accreditation in clinical neurophysiology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Clinical responsibility includes learning to perform the above diagnostic tests and participating in our neuromuscular clinics. Participation in a research project is encouraged.
