Laboratories seeking accreditation in the AANEM’s Electrodiagnostic Laboratory Accreditation Program are required to have a power outage and surge protection policy. To assist laboratories in meeting this standard, the AANEM has developed model policies appropriate to all applicant laboratories.

First, determine whether your laboratory has an uninterrupted power supply; then determine if your laboratory has surge protection for each NCS/EMG machine used to perform studies on patients.
