The AANEM’s mission is to improve the quality of patient care and advance the science of neuromuscular and musculoskeletal diseases by serving physicians and allied health professionals who care for those with muscle and nerve disorders.
The AANEM values:

- Pillar 2 - Professional Standards: Establishing training and competency standards and credentialing for those physicians and technologists who have achieved the standards.
- Pillar 3 - Advocacy: Serving as a resource for governmental, professional, and lay agencies and representing members’ practice concerns.
- Pillar 4 - Communications: Keeping members abreast of industry and association news and events.
