AANEM Committees

Make a Difference - Participate on an AANEM Committee!

Hundreds of electrodiagnostic and neuromuscular medicine experts volunteer their time and expertise to serve on a variety of AANEM committees and task forces each year. These volunteers help the AANEM achieve its mission to improve the quality of patient care and advance the science of neuromuscular and musculoskeletal diseases.

Committee volunteers carry out the programs that support the AANEM’s five pillars – education, professional standards, advocacy, communication, and research.

Committee Chairs and Members
Committee chairs are appointed and/or reappointed by the AANEM President each year. The President uses a list of interested AANEM members to identify potential new committee and task force members. Committee members are subject to reapproval by the new AANEM President each year.

What AANEM volunteers have to say:

"In an ever-changing world of medical practice–and especially when there are so many and so varied assaults on the quality of EDX medicine–I have found it rewarding to be a part of efforts and programs to meet these challenges. Being on committees and being involved in the AANEM helps me feel I am helping and a part of the solution."
Peter A. Grant, MD
"Being the co-chair of the AANEM tech expansion committee has been an incredible experience and exceeded my expectations.  I was a bit anxious being the first technologist to attend an AANEM board meeting.  However, once I entered the board room, I was welcomed with open arms and friendly smiles.  The camaraderie with the physicians and the AANEM staff is memorable and a great experience."
Carrie Ford, R.EP.T, CNCT

"I became involved in an AANEM committee as a way to give back to an organization that has been the greatest advocate and supporter of my clinical practice. Being involved in a committee is a great way of getting to know other professionals from around the country who share your same interests."
James P. Klejka, MD

"Being involved in an AANEM committee is a great opportunity to play a role in helping to improve the practice and expand the educational opportunities in electrodiagnostic medicine and work with peers and colleagues from around the country to advance the practice of electrodiagnostic and neuromuscular medicine."
Devon I. Rubin, MD
"The future of the AANEM greatly affects your future as an EDX physician. Involvement in committees gives you direct input into what that future should be. It’s also a great way for those of us in private practice to make contacts around the country and ensure we stay on the leading edge of electrodiagnostic and neuromuscular medicine."
Clark W. Pinyan, MD
"Getting involved in AANEM, especially being on a committee, is a wonderful opportunity to be  part of an organization that is dedicated to offering superb educational offerings to both physicians and technologists."
Jan Buss, CNCT
